Spokespersons at Adobe said that the Substance 3D suite is a continuation of the company’s renewed drift towards 3D and immersive technology, incorporating its past 2D software collection of Photoshop, Illustrator, and others, as a template for improved 3D tools. Since then, Adobe executives have been focused on increasing the range of 3D applications within the company and gradually investing in 3D development, including bringing in Pixar veteran Guido Quaroni onboard as the head of the engineering team. Adobe also made two other acquisitions of Allegorithmic and Medium in 2019. This increased the range of applications and services developers could utilize in Photoshop and within a larger 3D design array. Mixamo’s technology was synced with Creative Cloud and made available for its subscribers shortly. Since focusing on 3D design tools, the Adobe brand stepped up its 3D technology stream when it acquired Mixamo, a graphics technology company specializing in 3D computer software. This was seen as a major milestone in 3D design and technology, among the few first of its kind from a major software organization, and gave a huge boost to the 3D printing market. The implications for the design and tech industry It also has a huge collection of personalized 3D features that are targeted at professionals in the industry. The four main tools included in the Substance 3D Collection are the Sampler, Designer, Stager, and Painter.
This latest tool suite is made specifically to facilitate designers who work with 3D content.
Its first venture came about a decade earlier, and the company first started offering support for 3D printing through Creative Cloud in 2014. This isn’t the first time Adobe has dabbled in 3D technology. Adobe recently announced the launch of its brand new tool suite that caters to 3D designers.
